c. 10:31 But many first shall be last; and the last first.

NOTE: - 10:1-12 - It was Dr. G. Campbell Morgan who said, “Watch what is newly taking place in the world - within 10 years it will be in the church!” Truer words were never spoken. Divorce rates in the church today are now the same as in the world, and in some places - even higher! The spirit of the Pharisees who want to replace the Word of God with their human traditions - is as active in the church today as it was 2000 years ago!

Jesus most clearly refuted the position of the Pharisees, and sought to return their thinking to the Word of God.

To the word and its testimony - if they speak notaccording to thisword - it is because there is no lightin them!” Isaiah 8:20. And we must remember that Hebrews 8:6 spells out that God has constituted the New Testament Covenanton the same level of authority as the Old Covenant!

10:13-16 - Then look at this paragraph! Little children play at the Gates of the Kingdom of God. As they grow older, they walk away from this insight. But many see angels and visions of heaven in their early years. Alladults must turn back to the attitude of little children to enter the Kingdom of God. H.A. Baker in his “Visions Beyond the Veil” clearly points out this truth as presented by Jesus.

10:17-31 - Next let us consider Jesus' words to the rich young ruler. Jesus loved him, but would not lift a finger to stop his departure after he heard for him Jesus' devastating words. The disciples were shocked at their Master's words concerning the difficulty of entering heaven for a man with riches. The key verse here is 10:27 - “:Jesus looked upon them andsays, Impossiblewith men, but not with God: for all thingsare possible with :God.”

In 1956 we had a woman from Georgia in our church in Chicago, The “Kostner Avenue Baptist Church.” She was concerned about her unsaved husband, who she feared was on his way to hell. “Truer words were never thought”, I told her. But she loved him, and wanted him saved. A tract by a missionary to China, “How I Learned to Pray for the Lost,” came into my hands on Pearl's behalf. 40 of her relatives back in England came to the Lord through the message of this tract. We shared it with Pearl, and pointed out from the above verse that it gives the strong Possibilityfor the least possible to be saved! 1 Timothy 4:10, “our hope is set in a living God, who is Saviorof allmen, speciallyof thefaithful.” Jesus paid the complete Pardon pricefor all. And lastly, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - “For though we walk in theflesh, we do not war according to theflesh (for the weapons of our :warfare are not of flesh, but mighty before :God unto casting down of strongholds); casting down reasonings, and every high thingthat exalted against the knowledge of :God, and bringing every thoughtinto captivity to the obedience of Christ.”The above verses show us how to Possessthe Promises!.

We saw Pearl's husband miraculously saved on the basis of these 3 verses. I saw my father, mother and brother all come to the Lord through them too. Turn to our Website under “Archives”, and much more help on “Clan and Household Salvation” is given here. J.A.W.
